To Lam Kei.

Dear Sir,

156

On the 25th instant we despatched a letter and 400 tins of "Three Character" Brand goods through Fook Kei. Two nights ago we received your telegram reporting the safe arrival of the goods,

(1... 1.4.24.)

Yesterday morning the upset price of the last

ocsigment of Government goods was published, i,e. #6300.00

per chest. This is an extraordinary low price, probably the Government did not know how short supplies wer's. Since

the Government price was so low the market price has fallen. There is thus a god opportunity for the dealers to make a profit. In future there is every reason to expect a larger

salo.

But the market in Shanghai is dull, and only

Persian Opium is in slight demand. At present the market price here is 7660 to 7680 (per chest) terms 4 months credit. Persian Opium is a good market here. It is to be expected that the Shanghai market will become brighter, and then there will be a good prospect of business,

If you

In my

hear of any good prospects please cable at once.

opinion the best thing is to buy 10 or 20 chests as soon as the price becomes steady, and hold for a good opportunity Besides 4 months credit is given. If the price rises

greatly there will be no objection.

by cable of all movements of price.

Please keep us informed
